It’s great to see Peter “G’day” Russell “G’day” Clarke back on the box after what seems far too long a period out of the advertising game.

Peter’s work for cheese brand Coon, with the catchy jingle incorporating Australian ‘Coon’ place names:

Coonamble, Coonalpyn, Coonooer Bridge, stock the fridge!

Coonawarra, Coongulmerang, Coonabarabran loves that Coon taste man…

and the famous sign off line ‘Where’s the cheese?’ has been begging for a return to the small screen.

 

 

In lieu of Coon dusting off this campaign, The Circulation Booster is Peter’s latest project.  In traditional fashion, he even managed to get “where’s the cheese – and kisses” into the script!  Genius.  Sadly though for PRC fans, it has been relegated into the off-peak infomercial graveyard, amongst 48 hour detoxes and other similar rubbish.

 

 

Most people will have seen the bloopers reel from his TV cooking career (which surfaced on YouTube in early 2008 – NSFW) littered with numerous four letter words other than ‘Coon’.  His response on Triple J (where he has been hosting a fortnightly cooking show – also NSFW) was that he was fairly non-plussed about the whole incident.

I’m hoping this hasn’t scared TV producers off Peter Russell Clarke making a triumphant television return – the next project for Peter must surely be a guest appearance on Celebrity Masterchef.  I’m envisaging a ‘Coon Cheese Challenge’ segment, a three-legged cheese-off in the following categories:

1. Fanciest Cheese Toastie
2. Most Creative Use Of Cheese and Cabana on a party platter
3. Best quattro formaggi pizza (Coon cheese mandatory)

Forget Matt Moran’s fancy chocolate fondants, let’s take it back to basics -  who’s with me?
